All Works of Life Development Organisation (AWOL) has provided various supports totalling Le150 million to the Government of Sierra Leone in the fight against COVID-19 in the country.

On 2nd May, 2020, AWOL presented a cheque of Le50 million to the Emergency Operations Committee (EOC) to support its operations, which has now been decentralised to all 14 districts of Sierra Leone.

AWOL has also invested the sum of Le50 million in the production of customised face masks for distribution to selected sections of the vulnerable population in support of government’s Mask-Up campaign.

Another Le50 million has been presented to the National Youth Council for the provision of food for vulnerable communities in Freetown and the provinces during the three-day lock down just announced by the government.

“In line with our foundational objective of ‘complementing the effort of the Government of Sierra Leone in nation building’ we are able to mobilise our membership at home and in the Diaspora to raise funds for this intervention,” said AWOL Chairman, Amb. Anthony Navo Jnr.

He added: “AWOL has always been there for Sierra Leone in good times as well as
during challenging times like this. We will always play our part.”

Contributions were received from our international chapters, AWOL UK, AWOL America and AWOL Europe.

Meanwhile, AWOL salutes all our heroes in the frontline of fighting this pandemic- our health workers, essential service providers, security personnel, the media- especially the SLAJ Coronavirus Response Committee, the EOC and, above all, the resilient people of Sierra Leone.

Together we will survive this and come out much STRONGER and UNITED as a nation.
